10 Things to Do in Newton This Fall
Fall is here, and we couldn’t be more excited. We look forward to celebrating cooler weather,autumn leaves and exploring our community and local events.
Whether you’re learning a new hobby to continue through the winter or you’re getting outside to enjoy scenic views, there are plenty of activities throughout our neighboring community of Newton that make it easy to enjoy the changing seasons.
Riverside Trails with Newton Conservators
Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. | Event Details
This historic walking tour will journey from the Lasell Boathouse to the former MDC Police Station. You’ll see 20th-century canoeing sites and the Riverside Trail System. If you choose to participate in the optional second half of the walk, you’ll continue to the Leo J. Martin Golf Course and see even more sites along the way.
Newton Community Farm Fall Festival

Embrace the season with this fall festival at Newton Community Farm. The fall festival will feature all the season’s staples including apple cider donuts, pumpkin decorating and yard games. If you’re looking for a way to get involved in the community, the Newton Community Farm is also looking for volunteers to help out at the event.
Disney Musical Presentation with Michael Goodwin
Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. | Event Details
Musician Michael Goodwin of Pique Entertainment will visit One Wingate Way to present information about classic Disney music. Goodwin’s presentation will cover familiar songs from some of Walt Disney’s most beloved films. If you’re interested in animation, music or history, you’ll love this event.
Taste and Make Chocolates

Master Chocolatier Beth Kirsch hosts chocolate making classes at her home in Newton every Monday. This is a great group activity, so get your friends and family together and get cooking. Keep in mind that the class has a per-person fee and a limit of 12 participants.
Acrylic Landscape Painting Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. | Event Details
Get artistic at this introductory acrylic landscape painting class at the Newton Senior Center. You’ll learn the basics of acrylic painting and the processes you can use to paint beautiful landscapes from a reference photo or in plein air.
Newton’s Community Table

Save the date for this delicious fundraiser. Newton’s Community Table is an annual event that serves food from Newton’s finest restaurants in order to raise money for the Newton Food Pantry. Tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 9.
Cappella Clausura: Illuminations

Vocal ensemble Cappella Clausura is celebrating 100 years of women’s suffrage with a musical performance by an all-female acapella group. Their Illuminations performance is based on the Salzinne Antiphonal, an ancient manuscript from 16th century Belgium. The performance will feature music, reading, discussions and food from the time period.
Last Farmers’ Market

Don’t miss your last chance to purchase fresh produce from the Newton Farmers’ Market. After a great 40th year, the farmers’ market will be closing down for the season until they open again next summer.
Saturday Night Fever at the Y
